17.3 square miles are covered by Paliastomi Lake. At its deepest point, it is 3.2 meters long. The salinity content used to be 2,2 g/l, but it now ranges between 12 and 13 g/l. Paliastomi Lake is a significant fishing location. Because of my job obligations, I must travel2

Water contamination in the Mashavera River Basin, a significant agricultural region for Georgia's national food chain (including the production of vegetables, dairy products, and wine), has a variety of effects on the health of the local community and the entire nation. A thorough investigation of water quality was desperately needed due to the growing industrial activity in the area, sediment extraction, and discharge of untreated wastewater into the river, its tributaries, and irrigation canals. Generally speaking, air pollution has a significant detrimental impact on human health. Premature deaths and sickness are results of air pollution. Children, the elderly, and people who already have acute or chronic respiratory illnesses are among the most sensitive demographics to the impacts of pollution. Several air pollutants also damage ecosystems, for example by adding more nitrogen to water bodies and degrading forest ecosystems, among other things. The nation's cultural and national heritage items are also harmed by air pollutants. (NEAP-3 Georgia, 2017-2021)

ICFER conducted research as part of a variety of environmental programs that addressed the problem of air pollution. The reports listed below contain details on a problem. Please click the links below:

In terms of both surface and groundwater resources, Georgia is one of the wealthiest nations in Europe. Georgia has 14, 000 m3 of fresh surface water resources per person, compared to 9, 300 m3 on average in Europe. More than 26, 000 rivers, 850 lakes, 43 reservoirs, 734 glaciers, and wetlands make up Georgia's surface water resources, which cover an area of 627 km2. Groundwater resources are expected to be 18 billion m3 annually for just fresh groundwater, compared to a consumption rate of 1,077 M m3 in 2015, for instance. Georgia also has abundant mineral and thermal groundwater. Georgia's 320 km of Black Sea coastline plays a key role in the nation's economic development, especially the tourism sector.(NEAP-3 Georgia, 2017-2021).

One of the top concerns of the Georgian government is the creation of effective waste management systems and the prevention of pollution brought on by garbage. Municipal and hazardous waste that is dumped illegally in the ground or in landfills that are not properly sealed causes harm to the soil, water, and atmosphere (polluted leachate contaminates surface and groundwater), and the decomposition of organic matter results in notable methane emissions that contribute to climate change. Toxic emissions into the surrounding air are caused by improper waste management practices, such as burning plastic or petroleum. Dumpsites and unregulated landfills could be a source of disease and are ugly.(NEAP-3 Georgia, 2017-2021)

Food, goods made of wood and other materials, clean water, and other life-sustaining ecosystem services are all provided by nature. By preventing landslides and erosion, ecosystems safeguard the environment. They also foster favorable circumstances for tourism and recreational activities. also, the welfare of humans as the growth of several economic sectors in the nation heavily depends on these ecosystems services. Forests, freshwater wetlands, marine ecosystems, and coastal areas are the major ecosystem types.

steppes, steep mountains, and semi-deserts. extinction of species and degradation of ecosystems is a global issue, and Georgia furthermore faces a number of significant difficulties in this regard..(NEAP-3 Georgia, 2017-2021)
